ABOUT
Lauren is currently an Affiliated Faculty at Emerson College in Boston, MA where she teaches Ecology and Conservation. Lauren holds a Master's of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment, where she focused on stakeholder engagement, social theory, and wildlife ecology through a transdisciplinary framework. In 2021, Lauren was awarded the Leadership in Conservation Science scholarship at Yale. In 2017, Lauren graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with a focus in Ecology and Conservation and a minor in Wildlife Biology from the University of Vermont.
Working across cultural contexts, Lauren has focused on human-human conflict mitigation in bear management in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem as well as anti-poaching, livelihood development, and adaptive capacity management in Botswana. Through her applied community work in Botswana, Lauren currently teaches conservation practices using an integration of sociology, ecology, anthropology, and policy sciences.

- Started working as Program Instructor for Round River Conservation in the Okavango Delta of Botswana and Taku, British Columbia. - Invited by Dr. Thomas Easley's Heartwood Podcast to speak on Conservation and Community Development in Botswana: A Conversation with Kaggie Orrick, Lauren Sadowski, and Dikatholo Kedikilwe. - Graduated with a Masters of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment specializing in Ecosystems and Conservation Management. - Completed a 3-month research study on a biodiversity species assessment of the Pacific Northwest: Conservation Recommendations for the Pacific Northwest. - Completed 2 years of research on the social and wildlife relations in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem: Bearing the Burden: Multidisciplinary Integration in Human-Bear Coexistence. - Co-taught 3 graduate courses: Foundations of Natural Resources Policy and Management, Anthropology of Smallholder Stakeholders in Developing Countries, Society and Natural Resource Seminar: "A Reflexive Conversation." |

- Awarded the MK McCarthy-RW Worth Scholarship for Leadership in Conservation Science. - Held Visiting Researcher position at the Northern Rockies Conservation Cooperative to better understand human relations with grizzly bears in Jackson, WY. - Held year-long Research Assistant position for the Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative working with The Nature Conservancy Colorado in the developing a conservation and recreation management plan for Colorado's newest state park. |

- Collaborated with women's garden club to combat malnutrition and gain food security in a rural village in Botswana. - Designed environmental education for village primary school of 300 students in Botswana (see Teaching page). - Composed a conservation management plan for wildlife dispersal area of KAZA in Botswana. - Wrote Theory of Change proposal for preserving the ancient culture of the Khoisan people in a modern social-ecological system in Botswana. - Taught and designed student science programs for Mass Audubon. |
